Chocolate Popcorn

Savory, Salty Goodness in a Bowl

There are a lot of types of flavored popcorn on the market today. Caramel corn has long been a favorite flavor of popcorn, and now chocolate popcorn is also becoming quite popular. There are quite a few types of chocolate popcorn to choose from, such as white chocolate, dark chocolate, toffee crunch and strawberry crème. If you want your popcorn to be even more flavorful, you can buy or make chocolate flavored caramel popcorn.

Making your own chocolate popcorn is pretty easy and, of course, if you just want to make a shortcut version of this treat, all you really have to do is melt some chocolate over a mound of popcorn. Chocolate popcorn cakes are another way of eating chocolate popcorn. You can also make popcorn balls and stringed chocolate popcorn as edible ornaments. Chocolate popcorn is also often eaten with a mix of other snack food items, such as nuts and pretzels.

Just because the popcorn has chocolate drizzled on it, doesn't mean it has to be high in fat or calories. A lot of varieties of chocolate popcorn are actually pretty low in calories, fat and carbohydrates. Of course, other varieties are high in all of those ingredients, so make sure you check the label first before buying it, especially if you are watching your sugar, carbohydrate and fat intake. If you'd like to make your own chocolate popcorn at home, you will have more control over the ingredients and the strength of the flavor.
