Other Gourmet Meats

Ribs, Pork, Sausage, Turkey, Lamb, Veal & Game

You may often sit down at your favorite gourmet restaurant, or prepare yourself for cooking dinner, and wonder just what you feel like eating. Well, if you are a meat lover, there are quite a few gourmet meats to choose from.

Although many people consider steak to be the ultimate gourmet meat, a lot of meat connoisseurs will beg to differ. There are many other excellent gourmet meats on the market that will satisfy your cravings. You can choose from such succulent meats or poultry, such as turkey, chicken, pork, lamb and veal. If you are the more adventurous type, you could try some wild game such as goat, rabbit, elk, moose, venison, ostrich, bear, beaver, squirrel, alligator, rattlesnake, kangaroo, buffalo and bison, etc.

The types of meat that people eat are often dictated by where they live. Of course, North Americans don't generally eat kangaroos and Australians don't usually eat beaver. It usually comes down to geographical location. North Americans may find the eating of dogs to be distasteful, but we must realize it's common in other parts of the world. We regularly eat beef, but in some other nations cows are considered to be sacred animals. It seems that whatever animals are present and abundant, in your area of the world, are the animals that you will find yourself eating the meat of.

You can make some excellent dishes with just about any type of gourmet meat. Who can resist tender and juicy pork ribs that are marinated and then basted with your favorite sauces? If cooked right, this delicacy will fall off of the bone. Alternatively, how about thick and juicy veal chops along with your favorite salad and potatoes? If you'd rather have something lighter, you can always grill yourself a tender chicken breast and garnish it with roasted vegetables or fruit along with wild rice.

The combinations and recipes for other gourmet meats are endless, tasteful, exciting and very creative. If you are tired of the same old thing week after week, don't be afraid to try something new. Your taste buds will definitely thank you for it. You should feel free to cook whatever you like and experiment with other types of gourmet meat and if you find yourself running out of ideas there are numerous recipes available on the internet. You can also look for some recipe books in your local book shop that deal in other gourmet meats.
