Tea Gift Baskets

Tea Fit for The Queen Mum

You don't have to be British to enjoy a soothing cup of tea, and if you know anybody who is a tea lover, then a tea gift basket would be an ideal gift for them. There is a wide assortment of teas to choose from which come from all over the world.

Tea is a very healthy drink so it's a great gift for somebody who is conscious about their health. Tea has about half the amount of caffeine as coffee and research has shown that green, black and red or oolong teas may help to fight off heart disease, stroke and cancer. Tea contains flavonoids, which help to protect people against heart disease and cancer. It is also believed that drinking tea regularly can help lower your cholesterol level. Tea is also a great source of fluoride and black tea or lotions containing green tea can help to protect your skin from sun damage.

However, most of the health benefits provided by tea come from teas that are brewed from tea bags. Bottled and powdered teas will lose some of their effectiveness and herbal teas don't supply as many benefits as the green, black and oolong varieties. However, you may just want to choose a tea gift basket based on the taste of the different teas, regardless of their health benefits. A nice tea basket will include a variety of teas, and you can choose from white teas, green teas, black teas, chai tea, oolong tea, puerh teas or herbal teas. While you are at it, don't forget that you can also include iced teas to your basket.

You could send a tea basket with assorted food items added to it such as sugar, cookies, scones, shortbreads and perhaps a jar of honey. It would also be a good idea to add some tea accessories such as small kettles, teapots, cups, trays, saucers, spoons, strainers and timers. You can then complete your tea gift basket by including a cookbook that has recipes for cooking with tea or a book for the person to read while they are sipping their tea by the fire.
